Holiday Home Tour 2017 Winter Woodland Theme

Today I get to reveal all the fun Christmas decor I have put out in my Holiday Home Tour 2017. You might remember from my post all about the Christmas tree that my theme this year is Winter Woodland. You have probably seen each of these DIY projects as I have made them the last few weeks on my Facebook page or in various blog posts. Now you can see where they found their homes throughout my decor.

Birch Wood JOY Sign

First up is one of my favorite DIY projects from this season. My birch wood “Joy” sign is displayed on a prominent wall in my holiday home! See the short video tutorial here:

The sign exemplified my Winter Woodland theme using real juniper for the wreath and painting the reclaimed wood to look like birch trees.

The Christmas tree changed a little since last week. I planned for Winter Woodland to be all white decor, but as I was putting out decorations it just felt too sterile to me. I could not resist sprinkling in red throughout my home. You can also see my sweater pillow cover where I hand-lettered “Merry and Bright” sitting on the chair.

Watch how I put the tree together step-by-step in this video:

Holiday Home Living Room

Living room Christmas decor that goes with teal turquoise furniture. Decorating for the holidays red and white and teal

Decorating with teal can be challenging which is why I was initially thinking of just doing a neutral white color scheme. However, finding ways to just add a little red (like these painted pine cones) made the room come alive!

The lights lit up at night create a magical scene.

I strung lights behind my couch, on a garland around my patio door in the dining room, in our entryway, on the tree (of course), and around these modern shelves that I custom built for the living room.

These shelves hold tons of DIY crafts such as the candle holders, cereal box tree cones, birch bark pillar candles, and more. Past these shelves you can see into the kitchen and dining room where I put together an easy tablescape and centerpiece.

20 Minute Woodland Centerpiece

Adorable tablescape white winter woodland theme with simple place settings and a gorgeous DIY candle centerpiece!

Again using natural elements that were free to acquire in my decor, I put this centerpiece together in only 20 minutes. It goes well with my Winter Woodland theme because almost everything I used was gathered in the woods.

Feel free to pin as you see necessary!

Front Entrance Holiday Decor

You may have watched me on Facebook Live recently painting vintage sleds. I decorated my outdoor front entrance with these hand-painted beauties! Look for a shortened and shareable video tutorial of this craft coming to my blog next week!

You can also see the planter and red twig dogwood wreath I did in a Facebook live on my page! A handmade touch makes guests feel warm and welcome when entering our holiday home.

  2. Although this is last year’s Christmas posting by you, Hometalk just posted it again in my email today. Your home is lovely but I just wanted to mention how nice your dining room table centerpiece turned out! I love, love, love what you did and in just 20 mins. you created a gorgeous centerpiece. Kudos to you!! I don’t have a wood box that long but I do have a rustic basket so I am gonna give it a shot this Christmas!! (I’m originally from Michigan but now live in NC. We do not have the lovely white birch here…darn it!) Take care and happy holidays!
