Bathroom Renovation Final Reveal

After teasing you with multiple glimpses of our finished bathroom, I am finally here with the bathroom renovation final reveal. In this post I’m going to cover many of my design choices. If you’d like to see more specifics on the products I’ve chosen, see this post and this post.

The calming color palette of this modern bathroom makes the space feel luxurious. White walls and trim highlight the subtle marble tile backsplash, gray washed teak wood vanity, and pops of matte black hardware throughout.

To minimize the effect of the slanted ceilings, we had a wall built cutting off part of the room. On the long blank wall, I designed a hidden door with minimal hardware showing and ran towel hook racks.

Designing a room with slanted ceilings can be tricky.
Our story and a half old house has slanted ceilings everywhere upstairs. To make the most of the space and minimize the effect of the slant, I used a few tricks...

The vanity area was a challenge to design because the slant in the ceiling limited what we could do with the mirror. I decided to do an off-center sink, faucet, mirror and wall sconces to make the slanted ceilings look better. This also gave us more counter space on the left side which is nice! Because our sink was off-center, we were limited to a vessel for plumbing. The vessel sink I chose is minimalistic and blends in with our custom quartz countertop.

This modern, bright bathroom renovation is sure to inspire! Matte black hardware, circle mirror, teak vanity, marble tile, industrial lighting, quarts countertop, and more!

A circle mirror also softened the look of the slanted ceilings and wall sconces allowed me to create eye-pleasing symmetry in the space. Our backsplash is a large porcelain marble look tile that I’m in love with! You might have watched my video tutorial on how I grouted it myself! We installed the same tile above our tub shower surround, too.

The faucets for the sink and tub shower were modern choices in a brushed nickel finish. I think they pair nicely with all the matte black hardware throughout the room – the shower curtain rod, towel hook racks, vanity pulls, door knob, etc.

Brushed nickel faucets are easy to keep clean, a timeless soft finish, and come in modern styles!
Modern hardware finishes definitely include matte black. Paired with brushed nickel makes a nice contrast, especially offset my white with the sinks, counters, and shower surround.

Our floor choice was luxury vinyl plank in a light grey. I have faith it will withstand our bathroom because it is 100% waterproof! I made a popular video on how to lay LVP flooring you can watch to do it yourself! To finish off the floor, I installed simple white baseboard trim. To save money, I actually just bought pine 1 x 4’s and painted them! With some caulk applied to the seams and drywall mud to fill in nail holes, the trim ended up looking really amazing!

We used 1 x 4 pine boards and sanded, primed, and painted them to use as trim. After some caulk in the seams and drywall mud to fill in nail holes, the trim looks AMAZING!

The finishing touches like plants, soft white rugs, and a clean white shower curtain added to the spa-like feel of our bathroom.

Soft rug on your feet when you step out of the shower is the best feeling in the world!

After two months of a lot of work, we finally have a modern bathroom I am completely thrilled with! I hope you love it as much as I do. Don’t forget to tell me your favorite part of the bathroom renovation in the comments! Please pin these images to inspire others with a modern aesthetic.

  1. Love the tile backsplash for the sink and the tub! Love the cabinet, sink, mirror and the black hardware! The lighting and wall hooks although very nice, are a bit too industrial for me but they look nice in your room.oh and that floor…wow I love that too! All and all I think you all did a great job!

  2. Looks really nice! Do you happen to remember what the brand/model for the tub surround was? The link provided is no longer available.

    1. Aw bummer! I bought them at Menards. I’m sorry I don’t remember specifics because I just went in the store and bought the most modern looking set I could find. I hope you find something you love for your bathroom project!

  3. Now that time has passed, how are the LVP flooring holding up? Our laundry room/ entry way room has flooring almost like yours when we moved in two years ago. They left a box of extras they had and the box says they’re waterproof. I’ve noticed just in the two years we’ve lived here how much certain planks are peeling or swelling up at the corners/edges. And this is just with me using an occasional swiffer on it. I do think the previous owners dog peed on the planks so maybe it’s finally starting to show from that because the swiffer surely isn’t to blame if they’re waterproof, right? Just wondering if yours held up.

    1. I have a couple seams slightly separating, but otherwise the floor looks exactly like the day we installed it! The spots separating are near the toilet where I believe there are more puddles on the floor if you know what I mean! :/
